The 7th Annual Celebrity Bowl raised over $185,000 for the Tri-State Community – a new record for the event! Held at Strike Zone Bowling Center, the Celebrity Bowl featured former Marshall University greats and NFL stars. 

The event kicked off with a trip to the Wild Wild West – a saloon-casino cocktail party on Friday night. The evening included dinner, silent auction and live auction, as well as casino gambling and video horse races.

On Saturday, bowlers from sponsoring companies gathered for the Celebrity Bowl event. The event included dinner and silent auction Prizes were awarded to the top-three team finishers of the tournament – with Kroger taking 1st Place honors!

Joining Chad on Saturday were Ahmad Bradshaw, Channing Crowder, Charlie Anderson, Daunte Culpepper, Doug Legursky, Greg Camarillo, Jared Odrick, Patrick Cobbs and Vernon Carey.

Chad Pennington’s 1st and 10 Foundation Awards $103,600 In Grants For Fall 2010

February 9, 2011 – Chad Pennington’s 1st and 10 Foundation is pleased to announce that it has awarded more than $100,000 to charitable organizations in Southern West Virginia and the Tri-State area, as well as East Tennessee. The Foundation, which awards grants on an annual basis, gave $103,600 to organizations that applied for grants in the fall.

“Giving funds to these great organizations is extremely exciting,” said Chad Pennington, President. “Building stronger communities is what the 1st and 10 Foundation and its supporters are all about. These are all very deserving organizations and we are proud to assist them in making a difference in the lives of others.”

Since its inception in 2003, the Foundation has distributed $1,171,944 in funds to organizations in the Foundation’s geographical areas.

Chad and Robin Pennington created the 1st and 10 Foundation in 2003 with the mission to build stronger communities by funding programs and institutions that seek to improve quality of life throughout southern West Virginia and the Tri-State area, East Tennessee and South Florida.

The following organizations have received grants for the second grant cycle of 2010:

Union Mission
Purpose: Funding to purchase a vehicle to transport clients to appointments, church, interviews and school.

Child Protect Mercer County
Purpose: Funding for Family Enrichment Workshops to provide nutritional foods to families and equip parents with knowledge and resources needed to ensure the health and well-being of families.

Golden Girl Group Home
Purpose: Funding to purchase a 15-passenger van to provide transportation to the young girls living in this group home.

Safe Harbor of Northeast Kentucky
Purpose: Funding to enclose the Chad Pennington Children’s Playground at Safe Harbor with a permanent fence – providing safety to those children living in the shelter.

Big Creek People in Action
Purpose: Funding for supplies so that volunteer college groups can work on dilapidated homes of the poor and disabled in rural areas.

Knoxville Zoo
Purpose: Funding for an exciting, hands-on education program that will bring science lessons to life for over 600 at-risk youth.

Fentress County Children’s Center
Purpose: Funding for an afterschool program for abused and traumatized children. Information, education and support are provided in a safe environment to facilitate success through education groups, small group counseling and recreation.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast TN
Purpose: Funding to provide chronically hungry school-aged children with bags of nutritious, wholesome meals and snacks to take home over the weekend, summer break and when school is not in session.

Stop Hunger Inc.
Purpose: Funding to help the non-profit group in the recovery and distribution of food to the needy, and homeless on a monthly basis.

The Foundation is now reviewing grants annually. The deadline for submitting a grant in 2011 is August 15.
